苏州采芝斋创始于清同治9年（公元1870年），金荫芝在苏州观前街设店起家，至今已有130多年历史。清光绪年间，慈禧太后患病，苏州制造局选派苏州名医曹沧州进京为太后诊脉。曹把随身携带的采芝斋贝母糖奉慈禧助药，慈禧病情好转后，贝母糖也因此被列'贡糖'。
